Since it was founded in 1996 by osteopath Sarah Hayes, The Kingsport Osteopathic Clinic has become a popular destination for patients seeking gentle, effective, restorative health care. Thousands of patients from around the globe have been successfully treated for all kinds of health problems.

Located in the beautiful Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia, the Clinic overlooks the ocean at the edge of the Minas Basin, which boasts the highest tides in the world. Driving to and from the Clinic serves to prepare and integrate each patient for the transformative experience provided by their osteopathic treatment.

The Clinic provides Osteopathy, Naturopathic Medicine, and Traditional Swedish Massage treatments.

We believe that it is important for all babies to get an osteopathic assessment following their birth to check for birth trauma and restricted patterns of movement. This preliminary exam and/or treatment can be extremely helpful to babies with colic/reflux, sleeping difficulties, digestive or bowel issues or those children who are unable to latch or nurse effectively. A neurological exam is also done during this first meeting. Osteopathic testing can reveal restrictions which may cause problems later in life and gentle osteopathic treatment can quickly resolve these difficulties. Whether the delivery was assisted by forceps, suction, or C-section, or if the labour was prolonged due to mal-position in the womb, or induced and extremely fast, there are specific restrictions which may be present. Problems with your newborn can result in sleep deprivation for the entire family so have your newborn checked out as soon as possible after their birth and reveal their full potential.

For children, it is so important to have a regular osteopathic assessment while the body grows because “as the twig is bent….so grows the tree.” Structural problems that develop in childhood can become fixed into the body in adulthood. Assessing and treating the body early can help to prevent these ‘fixities’ while supporting the nervous system to develop normal patterns which underlie posture, balance, co-ordination and cognitive skills. If your child is involved in sports, we recommend they come in for treatment at any time throughout the season when injury occurs or at the end of every season for rebalancing. This can help to prevent a myriad of problems from developing into chronic conditions later in life.

Most mainstream insurance plans cover our services, however a medical referral may be required in specific cases. Please check with your insurance company prior to booking your appointment to determine your coverage.
